Still ongoing lawsuit by the Cassa di Risparmio of the Republic of San Marino for fraud against Barclays.
If Barclays were to lose the trial, many banks may be dragged to court by angry investors. There are many in fact, extremely complex and opaque banking products sold as cheap and secure. The lawyers of the Cassa di Risparmio have accused Barclays of being aware that the products sold were 300 times more risky than stated on the rating.
Barclays and the defense witnesses claimed that the sale at the San Marino case was not extraordinary.
